I never planned to be a legal recruiter. Twelve years ago, I stumbled into it by chance and quickly realized I have found work that genuinely excited me. Perhaps because I was lucky to have an exceptional first mentor in recruitment, whose guidance made all the difference and shaped everything that followed.
As the founder of Ember, I continue to cover both private practice and in-house recruitment. Over the years, I have collaborated with lawyers and law firms from diverse regions and backgrounds, including the UK, US, offshore, and local practices. I have also partnered with MNCs and start-ups across the technology, maritime, retail and media/entertainment space.
Each placement is different and no two days at work are the same for me. Sometimes it is navigating the intricacies of law firms and a very competitive candidate-short market, other times it is understanding the culture and goals of in-house teams. I enjoy these challenges and it is that blend of strategy, intuition and human connection that has made work deeply fulfilling for me. I also enjoy working with diverse personalities and uncovering what truly matters to each person.
Outside of work, I split my time between the track and the gym chasing new levels of endurance and performance. It has taught me the value of showing up consistently and staying committed and patient with the process. The burn doesn’t feel any easier, but somehow you get less horrified by it each time and a little better at surviving it.
When I am not training, I love scouring the internet for ‘80s and ’90s vintage designer fashion pieces. I find joy in the serendipity of finding something special from a bygone era and wearing it feels unexpectedly personal - like it was made to find me.
